It was not easy to find high speed internet providers in my area, despite all the advertising that is out there. Many times you will find an internet service provider is advertising on local television or radio, but they are not immediately available in your local neighborhood.  They might be in the next building, or on the next block, but not near you!  It really helps to narrow it down by searching for internet service by zip code.  That is how you can see all the plans compared side by side.  Even if a nationally known provider offers service in your zip code, all of their plans may not be available.  Comparing what is truly available to you for cost, speed, and the latest discounts is really an advantage for you.  This way you know that you are getting the best internet service for your needs and your money.

Comparing the high speed internet providers in my area was pretty easy.  First I checked out Verizon and AT&T, the two major internet providers in the nation to see which one offered service in my neighborhood. Then, I compared their plans to the local cable company and other internet companies. I wasn’t able to get super high speed internet such as FiOS or Uverse, but I found a high speed plan that met my needs and was very affordable with my local cable company.  I love how all the major providers are enticing me with free modems, cash back rebates, free wi-fi, and more.

The answer is pretty obvious.  Go online, and search for them.  Start with the major nationally known companies, such as AT&T and Verizon.  See what plans they have, and what is available in your area. You will find that while they are present in many states, their service does not reach all areas.  This is particularly true of the ultra high speed connections FiOS and Uverse.  After you discover what these giants have for you, then check the website of your local cable company.  You’ll find that many of them offer cable internet, phone, and television bundled together into one monthly payment, which is usually the most economical way to go.  Compare all these to your local internet companies.  You’ll want to evaluate for speed, cost, and quality of service. If you are going to be streaming videos, downloading music, and sending files and photos through email, you probably want to get a speed above the minimum offered.  You’ll find many offers are within your budget, as internet services are quite competitive with each other. See if they offer free activation, and include modems and other equipment you need.
