The Best Search for High Speed Internet Providers in My Area
Posted by JanetM in Internet Providers on August 10th, 2010
It was not easy to find high speed internet providers in my area, despite all the advertising that is out there. Many times you will find an internet service provider is advertising on local television or radio, but they are not immediately available in your local neighborhood. They might be in the next building, or on the next block, but not near you! It really helps to narrow it down by searching for internet service by zip code. That is how you can see all the plans compared side by side. Even if a nationally known provider offers service in your zip code, all of their plans may not be available. Comparing what is truly available to you for cost, speed, and the latest discounts is really an advantage for you. This way you know that you are getting the best internet service for your needs and your money.
High Speed Internet Resources
Posted by TraceyS in Internet Providers, Super Fast Internet Providers on July 21st, 2010
As you look for information on high speed internet providers in your area, it’s important that you’re getting the most up to date information. Providers are expanding their service to new areas all the time. You don’t want to miss out on a great deal just because the resource you were looking to for the least promotions didn’t include one of the newest providers in your area. You also want to be sure that the promotions you’re viewing are current. It’s no good to find out about a great promotion if it’s expired – nor is it helpful to miss out on the newest promotions simply because they aren’t yet reflected. Look for resources that are updated frequently to provide you with both the most up to date and comprehensive information available.
Comcast Specials – Are Cash Back Options Worth It?
Posted by TraceyS in Internet Providers on July 16th, 2010
Right now there are some pretty interesting Comcast specials available. When you sign up for service, you can get a free modem and a free wireless router. Another promotion they’re offering is cash back off of selected plans. But is cash back really worth it? Of course everyone wants to see a little extra money in their wallet, but remember that this is only one thing that should be taken into consideration. Take the time to see how much it would cost you over the course of a year and then add up the savings. Sometimes that cash back won’t end up being the best deal after all – and the specials offered by AT&T or other companies can end up being the better choice.

Google TV Unveiled at San Francisco Conference
Posted by JanetM in Internet Providers on May 20th, 2010
The gap between broadband services and television keeps getting smaller, especially now that television is available on the internet. Google at its conference in San Francisco announced a plan to partner with Sony in making television sets that will be able to receive “Google TV“. The user would purchase a box to hook up to their existing television in order to receive it. This is linked to the success of the apps for Android phones and the launch of Google’s Chrome browser. So far, there isn’t much interest in accessing the internet on television, but as these applications develop, there will be interactions between technology and service providers in ways we have not imagined yet!

High Speed Internet Providers Want You!
Posted by JanetM in Internet Providers on February 25th, 2010
When you are comparing high speed internet providers, you want to look at three things: speed, cost, and availability. The speed you need to download streaming videos and music, and share photos, is very important – otherwise you are paying for something that doesn’t really work for you. Costs are very competitive right now, as internet service providers want your dollar, and don’t want you signing up with someone else. None of this matters if the service is not available to you. You can check availability on the provider’s website. You may find that with some companies, only some of the plans they offer are available in your area. It pays to do a little research, and enjoy the savings!

Evaluating High Speed Internet Providers in My Area
Posted by JanetM in Internet Providers on February 20th, 2010
So, how do I find high speed internet providers in my area? The answer is pretty obvious. Go online, and search for them. Start with the major nationally known companies, such as AT&T and Verizon. See what plans they have, and what is available in your area. You will find that while they are present in many states, their service does not reach all areas. This is particularly true of the ultra high speed connections FiOS and Uverse. After you discover what these giants have for you, then check the website of your local cable company. You’ll find that many of them offer cable internet, phone, and television bundled together into one monthly payment, which is usually the most economical way to go. Compare all these to your local internet companies. You’ll want to evaluate for speed, cost, and quality of service. If you are going to be streaming videos, downloading music, and sending files and photos through email, you probably want to get a speed above the minimum offered. You’ll find many offers are within your budget, as internet services are quite competitive with each other. See if they offer free activation, and include modems and other equipment you need.

Back in the Days of Dial Up
Posted by JanetM in Internet Providers on February 11th, 2010
Where would you be without high speed internet? Back in the days of dial up, that’s where! It would take forever to connect, and then your phone would be tied up unless you had a second line. It would take videos and sound files forever to load, and you likely could not share them. Social networking? Very limited. You’d be enjoying less, and waiting much more. The days of dial up appear to be over, as choices increase with DSL, cable internet, satellite internet, and ultra high speed fiber optic networks, not to mention wireless. Imagine a world where you can be anywhere and still receive internet service! It’s here!
